  1. The 405nm emitted from Indigo-Clean reflects off of walls and surfaces, penetrating harmful micro-organisms
  2. The light targets naturally occurring molecules called porphyrins that exist inside bacteria. The light is absorbed and the excited molecules produce Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) inside the cell
  3. 405nm creates a chemical reaction inside the cell, similar to the effects of bleach
  4. The Reactive Oxygen Species inactivates the bacteria, preventing it from re-populating the space

Indigo-Clean was invented at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland and tested in their lab and at the Royal Infirmary of Glasgow over a period of 12 years. Indigo-Clean has been further tested with Clinical Partners located all over the U.S. in applications like Operating Rooms, Waiting Rooms and Emergency Departments.

Indigo-Clean is ideal for Operating Rooms where hours of operation are 12 hours on/ 12 hours off due to room shut down. Indigo-Clean’s enhanced product portfolio expands into other applications such as patient bathrooms, waiting rooms, procedure and exam rooms, and emergency departments.

Indigo-Clean uses visible light waves, specifically, 405 nanometers generated from state-of-the-art LED technology, to kill harmful bacteria. This light is absorbed by porphyrin molecules inside the bacteria casing biocidal reactive oxygen to form. This process suffocates and kills the bacteria from within the organism. This chemical reaction created by the light is identical to that created by common, household bleach. This visible wave of light will reflect off of walls and objects, providing disinfection in areas not directly illuminated. By inactivating bacteria in the environment, you have now broken the chain of infection between the organism and the host you will ultimately to reduce healthcare acquired infections.
